How the matching actually works
No algorithm, no lead auction, no blast to twenty firms. A person reads your file and picks brokers who have closed businesses like yours.
You tell us about the business
Four minutes: industry, city and state, revenue band, roughly what you think it is worth, and when you want out. Your business name is optional and stays confidential.
We match on three things, in order
Deal size band first, because main street and lower middle market are different broker worlds. Then industry, because specialists price better and close faster. Then geography, because the local buyer pool and state licensing both matter.
A warm introduction, then we step back
We email you and the broker together with context on both sides. You interview them. We are not in the negotiation and never will be.
What a broker sees before you approve anything
Brokers in our network receive an anonymized profile first: industry, region, revenue band, earnings band, an estimated value range, and your timeline. No name, no business name, no contact details.
If the broker wants the introduction, they countersign a referral notice that binds them to our confidentiality and conduct terms. Only then do your details get released, and only to that one broker.
What we do not do
- We do not list businesses or represent either side of a transaction.
- We do not negotiate price or terms, and we are not party to your agreement with a broker.
- We do not sell your information to marketers, or share it with brokers you have not approved.
- We do not charge you anything, at any stage.
Who we help
Most of the owners we work with have businesses valued between $1 million and $10 million, where the choice of advisor changes the outcome most. We also help owners of smaller businesses, and we match them with main street brokers who specialise at that size. If your business is worth $300,000, that is a real transaction and it deserves a broker who takes it seriously.
How we are paid
Brokers in our network pay us a referral fee out of the commission they earn, and only if a business we referred actually sells. It is a share of their commission, at a rate in line with what brokers customarily pay each other for a referral. It is never added to what you pay, it does not change your sale price, and if your business never sells then nobody pays us anything. You can ask us for the current rate at any time.
